Do not copy what they have, just look at the style of their creative writing and how they put the piece together. This will give you an idea of what you can do for your poetry. Look at work from different people, look at all the possibilities you have, all the open options there are, there are a million ways to writing poems. There are many different types of poems, like a love poem, narrative poem, lyrical poem, and even Shakespearean poem. Each have there own style and you will excel at whichever style suits you best. You can learn greatly from what you see, take note of your surroundings and what other people like to write about.

Use creative writing; don’t make your poem boring, no one likes to read a poem that will put them to sleep. Make it exciting and fun to read if that is the category in which you are writing. For example, you would not make it overly exciting if you are writing a love poem, because a love poem is to describe your feelings, dreams or hopes. It can be softer, more flowing, dreamy and exciting in a romantic way.

Try and do creative writing in every category of poems until you find which one you like best. You will know immediately as it will be the easiest one to write, you will feel like your pen is just writing on the paper with such ease. Writing poems is great fun and also a way to express yourself.
